How do I install the PII Shield Chrome extension?
Visit the Chrome Web Store, search for 'PII Shield', and click 'Add to Chrome'. Once installed, you'll see the PII Shield icon in your browser toolbar.
Does PII Shield store my prompts or personal data?
No. PII Shield processes your prompts in real-time but does not store the content. When you redact PII, the original text is never captured. However, if you bypass a warning and send content anyway, that prompt may be logged for your organization's compliance review.
What AI platforms does PII Shield work with?
PII Shield currently supports ChatGPT, Google Gemini, and Claude. We're continuously adding support for more platforms.
Is PII Shield HIPAA compliant?
PII Shield offers Zero-Knowledge Encryption for healthcare organizations. In this mode, your data is encrypted with a passphrase only you control—we cannot access it under any circumstances.
What if PII Shield misses something?
Our detection achieves 95%+ accuracy, but no automated system is perfect. PII Shield significantly reduces risk compared to no protection, but users should always review sensitive content before submission.
How do I add custom blocked terms?
Open the PII Shield popup in your browser, go to Settings, and add your custom terms (company names, project codes, etc.) to the blocked terms list.
